Half-Day Outpatient Treatment in South Portland, ME

Our Half-Day Outpatient Treatment Program is designed to provide robust support while allowing clients to maintain a greater degree of independence. It combines evidence-based therapies, individual counseling, and recovery-focused activities led by master’s-level clinicians, all within a supportive peer environment. The Half-Day Outpatient Treatment Program is designed for those who are experiencing moderate to severe mental health issues.

Half-Day Outpatient Treatment Schedule

3–5 Days Each Week

Participants can expect a commitment of three-to-five days a week. Ideally, Half-Day Outpatient Treatment will start at five days a week, and progressively lower to a minimum of three days a week. In the table you can see what a typical day of treatment might look like. However, this may change based on the unique needs of each client. Our Half-Day Outpatient Treatment Program is carefully designed to treat mental health conditions, delivering personalized guidance and support for long-term recovery.

Half-Day Outpatient Treatment Options

In addition to the group sessions in the daily schedule, clients can expect to have one weekly individual session. They’ll also have access to a psychiatric nurse practitioner for any potential medication management, or family support needs.

Each client will have a case manager to monitor their progress throughout treatment. There is an optional 12-Step Program offered for those who seek it, and it can be fit into a client’s weekly schedule. Lunch will be provided every day!

Clinical Services

At Pillars Health Group, we offer a comprehensive range of clinical services designed to support individuals on their journey to recovery. These include medication management, and mental health support. We also have a certified nurse practitioner available to assist clients as needed.

In addition, for those who are primarily seeking treatment for a mental health condition, but are also suffering from an addiction, we offer dual-diagnosis treatment. Our dual-diagnosis treatment gives us a combined approach to tackle the intertwined challenges that a mental health condition and addiction can create.

Medication Management and Mental Health Support

For clients that could benefit from medication to help with their mental health conditions, we provide medication management services. When medication is deemed necessary, our team will coordinate with the client’s prescribing physician if we are unable to prescribe it directly. This collaborative approach ensures clients receive the right support without interruption.

After Half-Day Treatment

After completing the Half-Day Outpatient Treatment Program, individuals are encouraged to partake in our Aftercare services. Once a week clients can attend an individual therapy session, and participate in a full day of group therapy.

Aftercare is intended to help participants sharpen their recovery skills, and continue the course after treatment. It’s also an opportunity to work through any issues they may have encountered while assuming a greater level of independence.

Pillars Health Group also offers Alumni Programs, giving clients access to peer support, sober events, and more. Our Alumni Programs and Aftercare services both help reinforce the skills learned during treatment.

Outpatient Treatment Programs FAQ

What if I can’t commit to the schedule for the Half-Day or Full-Day Outpatient Treatment Program?

If you’re concerned about being able to commit to the Half-Day or Full-Day schedules, no worries. Our counselors are here to help. Regardless of your schedule and commitments, we’re willing to work with you to design a treatment plan that will fulfill your needs and goals. We’ll cater it to your unique needs, giving you the flexibility to recover in a way that works for you.

What’s the difference between outpatient and inpatient treatment?

In outpatient treatment, clients can maintain their daily responsibilities while still getting the help and resources they need to recover. In inpatient treatment, individuals will live at a treatment center and receive constant care. At Pillars Health Group, we specialize in outpatient treatment, and we do not provide inpatient treatment.

How long does outpatient treatment typically last?

Outpatient treatment will typically last 8 to 12 weeks, but it can be longer or shorter depending on each individual’s unique treatment needs and progress.

What happens if I relapse during outpatient treatment?

Relapse is a common part of recovery, and not something to be ashamed about. If you relapse, our case managers will work with you to adjust your treatment plan as needed. It will likely be recommended that you receive a higher level of care.

Can I still attend work or school during outpatient treatment?

Yes, this is the core benefit of outpatient care. You can continue to handle your responsibilities and life, all while getting the help you need to tackle mental health challenges.

Is outpatient treatment confidential?

Yes, outpatient treatment at Pillars Health Group is completely confidential. HIPAA law dictates that treatment providers like us maintain your confidentiality.

Can my family be involved in my treatment plan?

Yes, your family can be involved in your treatment plan, and family support is highly encouraged. A strong support system can help develop a strong path to recovery.

How long does the Aftercare program last?

It will depend on the unique needs of each individual. However, clients will typically attend Aftercare sessions for a month after finishing their outpatient treatment program. From there, they can join the Alumni Program and remain involved in the recovery community.

Will my insurance cover outpatient treatment?

Most health insurance plans will cover outpatient treatment in some capacity. If you’re unsure that your insurance will cover outpatient treatment, then fill out this simple form, and we’ll check for you. There’s no charge to get your insurance verified—we want to make the process stress-free and simple.

What’s the difference between medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and medication management?

MAT is specifically for individuals who are in addiction recovery. Drugs like Suboxone can help recovering addicts ease themselves off addictive substances by reducing cravings and withdrawal symptoms. Medication management is for individuals suffering from a mental health challenge, who could benefit from medicine to support their treatment. For example, a person suffering from depression may benefit from an anti-depressant prescription.

Who can attend the Pillars Health Group Alumni Program?

Anyone who has successfully completed an outpatient treatment program at a Pillars Health Group location is eligible to join our Alumni Program.
