I’m still currently attending Pioneer Behavioral Health part-time three days a week, so I’m writing this while I’m still in the program. The whole team has been so supportive, kind and genuinely invested in helping me. I cant even begin to describe what a blessing they have been for me, in SO many ways! I'd never done group therapy before this, so I didnt know what to expect. I told myself I'd put in the effort to go for a few days, but, once I got there & started attending groups, I was warmly welcomed by everyone & they quickly turned into a second family to me! I spent a little over 90 days here & during that time, I gained a lot of skills & relationships that I will forever cherish! Lasting impressions were made by Max, Hannah, Erica, Casey, & Amy. Never in my life had I entered such a welcoming space, no matter what baggage i came with, I was met with complete respect and empathy. They also gave me tools for every day life that I use to get by, without this program i’m not sure where i’d be. If you think you need help, this is an amazing place to seek it.

What is Pillars Health Group?

Pillars Health Group is an outpatient mental health and addiction treatment provider with PHP (full-day) and IOP (half-day) programs in Massachusetts and Maine. We treat adults in Tewksbury, MA and South Portland, ME, and teens at our dedicated adolescent facility in Concord, MA. Tewksbury treats both mental health and substance use disorders; South Portland focuses on adult mental health; Concord is teens only.

What conditions do you treat?

Pillars specializes in treating a wide range of mental health conditions. Our team provides compassionate, personalized care for individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder (BPD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and more.

At our Concord, MA location, we also specialize in teen-related mental health challenges, such as: personality disorders, self-harm, suicidal ideation, disordered eating, body dysmorphia, attachment-based issues, family conflict, and social-emotional challenges.

And at our Tewksbury, MA location, we specialize in both mental health treatment and addiction treatment. We provide personalized care for alcohol addiction, Adderall addiction, cocaine addiction, hallucinogen addiction, heroin addiction, marijuana addiction, MDMA addiction, meth addiction, prescription drug addiction, and opioid addiction.

What's your approach to treatment?

Every client starts with a full clinical assessment, then gets a treatment plan built around their specific goals — not a one-size-fits-all track. We rely on evidence-based therapies (CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care) delivered in small groups, with family involvement built in where appropriate. We prioritize a supportive and healing environment throughout your treatment.

What can I expect during treatment?

It starts with an intake assessment, followed by a personalized plan covering individual therapy, group sessions, and aftercare planning. Most clients begin within days of their first call.

I'm looking for a specialized, teens-only program. Does Pillars offer that?

Yes. Our teen program — Pillars Adolescent — is completely separate from our adult programs, located at its own dedicated facility in Concord, MA. It serves ages 12–17 with treatment designed specifically around the developmental, emotional, and family needs of teens.
