Compassionate Care for Struggling Adolescents in Concord, MA

At Pillars Health Group, we understand that treating teens is fundamentally different from treating adults. That’s why we have developed highly specialized adolescent outpatient treatment programs for teens in Concord, MA.

Mental health challenges do not have to define your child’s future. There are critical skills that they can develop to live happy, fulfilling lives. And that’s where we come in. At Pillars in Concord, we provide a safe, secure, and supportive environment for each adolescent in treatment. Our compassionate, evidence-based therapeutic approach to treatment can help your child overcome their struggles and establish real control of their life.

By way of three distinct outpatient treatment programs, we address a variety of difficulties that today’s youth face, including anxiety, depression, disordered eating behaviors, bipolar disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), suicidal ideation, self-harm, and challenges related to LGBTQIA+ identity—for which we provide affirming care—and more.

We offer highly personalized treatment, peer support, proven therapies, and community resources for teens and their families. At Pillars, mindful enrichment and emotional well-being are well within reach. We’re here to guide you and your teen every step of the way.

First Things First: A Comprehensive Assessment

Upon admission, a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment will identify the underlying mental health issues that are driving undesirable behaviors your teen may be exhibiting. This assessment considers the social, biological, and psychological environments in which the youth develops. Based on this comprehensive assessment, our master’s-level clinicians will determine the appropriate level of care while they craft a highly individualized treatment plan for your teen. What’s more, to ensure your family has a plan in place for when your child completes outpatient treatment, our team will introduce you to resources outside of Pillars available to you.

Teen Outpatient Treatment Programs in Middlesex County

Both our Half-Day and Full-Day Outpatient Treatment Programs are designed to provide robust support for teens. The programs are highly structured but can be customized to meet your family’s unique needs and schedule. Through teen therapy and skills development, these programs will help your teen regulate emotions, communicate better, and learn and practice coping skills.

Full-Day Teen Treatment Program

Our Full-Day Outpatient Treatment Program for teens, commonly known as a partial hospitalization program (PHP), offers care and supervision throughout the day. Typically, it’s recommended that a teen in full-day treatment commit to five days a week of care. This schedule includes academic support. However, teens not currently enrolled in school may use the time allocated for academics for the practice of mindfulness and personal enrichment. We can work with you and your child to develop a schedule that best works for your family.

Typical Full-Day Schedule

Time Activity
8:00 – 8:30 Daily Check-in
8:30 – 10:00 Academic Support

1:00 – 2:00 Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Group
2:00 – 3:00 Practicing Therapeutic Skills
3:00 – 3:30 Process & Wrap-up

Half-Day Teen Treatment Program

Our Half-Day Teen Outpatient Treatment Program, commonly known as an intensive outpatient program (IOP), is for families who wish to have their child remain enrolled full-time in school and work out a temporary school schedule while their child is in treatment. Half-Day treatment provides support and guidance for a shorter portion of the day, allowing your teen to practice their newly acquired skills in a real-world setting after school. We offer two scheduling options as follows:

Half-Day Schedule Option 1

Time Activity
9:00am – 9:30am Check-in
9:30am – 10:00am Mindfulness & Enrichment

Both the Half-Day and Full-Day Teen Outpatient Programs offer weekly individual therapy sessions for the teen, biweekly case management sessions, and additional support as needed. As a parent or guardian of a child in treatment, you’ll receive weekly updates on your teen’s progress, weekly schedule and/or program updates, and tips on how you can help reinforce the lessons and skills your child learns in treatment.

Ensuring Academic Continuity For Your Child

One of the first questions parents ask is “What about my child’s school work?” Glad you asked. We understand that falling behind in school while in treatment can trigger a whole host of other mental health challenges, including stress, anxiety, shame, and low self-esteem. That’s why a core part of our teen outpatient programs revolves around our state-certified teacher interfacing with your teen’s school. She will gather coursework and homework so that your teen maintains academic continuity and keeps pace with their classmates while in treatment.

At Pillars Health Group, our clinical services are the cornerstone of our comprehensive care. Our expert clinical team uses evidence-based therapies and treatment modalities to find the root causes of the mental health challenges your child may be facing. Through individual and peer-centered therapies, we’ll empower your child to lead a healthier, more fulfilling life.

Our clinical services include a range of therapeutic approaches, including, but not limited to, medication management (when prescribed), comprehensive case management, and a variety of outpatient therapies.

Apart from clinical work, your teen will also participate in what we call “mindful movement,” physical exercise that helps the body heal along with the mind.

I started at Pillar Health during a really difficult time in my life. From day one, the team treated me like a person, not a case number. The intake was thorough but never judgmental, and the group sessions actually gave me tools I could use right away. What stands out most is how the staff follows through and I can’t say enough about how caring they were about my situation. That kind of care is rare. If you’re struggling with mental health, substance abuse or just need someone in your corner, go to Pillar Health. They genuinely want you to get better.

Outstanding clinicians and phenomenal mental health care. I was hesitant to join but am beyond happy and eternally grateful for every group and one-on-one session I experienced. A very well rounded program that has created such a safe and comfortable space to build connections with others in recovery and to develop skills and healthy ways to navigate anxiety, stress, triggers, and unhealthy urges. I wish I could give more than 5 stars. A highly recommended program.

Pioneer behavioral health and the people there have seriously saved my life and changed it for the better. I cannot imagine what I would do without that program today I’ve learned so much in such a short amount of time I couldn’t be more grateful for the knowledge in the community that I’ve gained truly such a wonderful place.

I’m still currently attending Pioneer Behavioral Health part-time three days a week, so I’m writing this while I’m still in the program. The whole team has been so supportive, kind and genuinely invested in helping me. I’ve already been able to see real changes in my life and in the way I handle things, and I feel more positive than I have in a long time about my ability to actually make lasting changes. I’m really grateful I found this program and for everyone who has been part of my journey so far. I was so nervous at first to participate in a group setting, but this experience has been life-changing. ❤️

My experience at Pioneer has been incredibly helpful and life-changing. When I first started, I was struggling in ways that made it difficult to manage my emotions, relationships, and everyday life. The program gave me a safe and supportive environment where I could be honest about what I was going through without feeling judged. The staff genuinely cares about my progress and helped me learn valuable tools that I can continue using after completing the program. Through therapy, group sessions, and learning different coping skills, I gained a better understanding of myself and learned healthier ways to cope in difficult situations.

If I could rate Pillars & their care team 10 stars, I absolutely would! I cant even begin to describe what a blessing they have been for me, in SO many ways! I'd never done group therapy before this, so I didnt know what to expect. I told myself I'd put in the effort to go for a few days, but, once I got there & started attending groups, I was warmly welcomed by everyone & they quickly turned into a second family to me! I spent a little over 90 days here & during that time, I gained a lot of skills & relationships that I will forever cherish! Lasting impressions were made by Max, Hannah, Erica, Casey, & Amy. Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart! SO MUCH LOVE!♡
