How We Treat Meth Addiction

A woman seeking outpatient methamphetamine addiction treatment at Pillars Health Group.

At Pillars Health Group, we understand the complexities of methamphetamine addiction and offer comprehensive, evidence-based treatment programs tailored to each individual’s unique needs.

Our approach begins with a thorough assessment to understand the individual’s history of use, any co-occurring mental health conditions, and their specific recovery goals. Once our assessment is finished, we’ll work with the individual to find the right program that fits their unique needs and schedule. And, if necessary, we’ll also refer clients to a trusted detox program within our network.

Detoxification

Medically supervised detoxification is often the first step, especially for individuals who have been using amphetamines heavily or for a prolonged period. Although we don’t provide residential detox services, we do offer detox placement.  We refer our clients to qualified detox programs within our trusted network. After finishing a detox, clients can seamlessly transition into one of our programs.

Half-Day and Full-Day Outpatient Treatment Programs

Our Half-Day and Full-Day Outpatient Treatment Programs are designed to fit the needs of each unique individual. For those requiring intensive care, we recommend the Full-Day Outpatient Treatment Program, as its the most structured commitment we offer, taking place five-to-six days a week.

If an individual needs a more flexible plan for recovery, our Half-Day Outpatient Treatment Program can meld to their schedule three-to-five days a week. However, regardless of an individuals schedule, we will work with them to customize our programs to fit their needs.

Both of the meth treatment programs include a variety of therapeutic approaches, medication management, case management, and peer support.

Individual Therapy

One-on-one sessions with our experienced clinicians are crucial for addressing the underlying causes of addiction, exploring triggers, developing coping mechanisms, and processing any trauma or co-occurring mental health issues. We utilize evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), trauma-informed therapy, and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).

Group Therapy

Our group therapy sessions provide a supportive environment where individuals can connect with others facing similar challenges, share their experiences, learn from each other, and build a sense of community. CBT and DBT are also core parts of our group therapy sessions.

Medication Management

For individuals with co-occurring mental health conditions, medication management may be necessary to stabilize mood, reduce anxiety, or address other symptoms. Medication management and medication-assisted treatment (MAT) are both facilitated and monitored by our certified nurse practitioners.

Case Management

Our case managers work with clients to develop a comprehensive aftercare plan, connecting them with resources in their community, and supporting their transition back into daily life. This may include referrals to support groups, sober living facilities, or ongoing therapy.

Our holistic approach emphasizes not only addressing the physical dependence on amphetamines, but also the emotional, psychological, and social aspects of addiction. We empower individuals to develop healthy coping strategies, build strong support systems, and create a foundation for lasting recovery and a fulfilling life free from amphetamine dependence. We are committed to providing compassionate, individualized care every step of the way.

Aftercare and Alumni Programs

Our Aftercare and Alumni Programs offer a flexible, supportive path for individuals transitioning from initial treatment to everyday life. These programs create a safe, structured space where clients can continue building on their recovery with confidence.

Tailored for those seeking greater independence, our Aftercare and Alumni options ensure that no one has to navigate their journey alone. Even after completing more intensive care, we remain a consistent source of encouragement, guidance, and community.

Signs and Symptoms of Meth Addiction

A man seeking outpatient meth addiction treatment at Pillars Health Group.

Methamphetamine addiction can often begin with occasional use, but it quickly escalates into dependency because of its highly addictive nature. Identifying the signs and symptoms of meth addiction early can help individuals seek treatment before long-term damage occurs.

Common physical signs of meth addiction include:

  • Rapid weight loss and loss of appetite
  • Severe dental problems (“meth mouth”)
  • Dilated pupils and rapid eye movement
  • Intense scratching or skin sores from picking
  • Excessive sweating and body odor
  • Twitching, jerky movements, or tremors
  • Insomnia or prolonged wakefulness

Common behavioral and psychological signs of meth addiction include:

  • Intense euphoria followed by irritability
  • Paranoia and hallucinations
  • Risky or compulsive behaviors
  • Sudden changes in friend groups or isolation
  • Obsessive focus on tasks or repetitive behaviors
  • Increased secrecy or lying
  • Financial problems or criminal activity to support drug use

These warning signs often worsen over time and can severely impair daily life, relationships, and physical health. Recognizing them early increases the chances of effective intervention and recovery.
